TKT (Teaching Knowledge Test)

 

TKT shows how you are developing as a teacher. It is ideal for people who want to prove their teaching knowledge with a globally recognised certificate.
TKT is a flexible series of modular teaching qualifications, which test your knowledge in specific areas of English language teaching. You can take as many modules as you want, over any time period. You receive a Cambridge English certificate for each module you complete.
Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) is a test of the skills you need to be successful in teaching English to speakers of other languages. TKT test aims to increase teacher's confidence and enhance job prospects by focusing on the core teaching knowledge needed by teachers of primary, secondary or adult learners, anywhere in the world.
The Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) can be taken at any stage in a teacher's career, and is ideal for people who want to prove their teaching knowledge with a globally recognised certificate. It is also ideal for those who have not yet started teaching.

WHO IS TKT FOR ?
TKT (Teaching Knowledge Test) is a flexible series of modular teaching qualifications, which test your knowledge in specific areas of English language teaching. There are no formal entry requirements. However, anyone wishing to take TKT exam is strongly advised to have at least an intermediate level of English — Level B1 of the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) — e.g. PET, IELTS band score of 4.

TKT FOCUSES ON:
The Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) focuses on following areas
·         different methodologies for teaching
·         the 'language of teaching'
·         the ways in which resources can be used
·         the key aspects of lesson planning
·         classroom management methods for different needs

CORE MODULES
Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) has four core modules. These can be taken together in one exam session or separately, in any order, over a period of time.
·         Module 1 : Background to language teaching
·         Module 2 : Planning for language teaching
·         Module 3 : Classroom management

SPECIALIST MODULES
Three specialist modules of Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) are available — these can be added to the above core modules, or each can be taken completely independently.
·         TKT : Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL)
·         TKT : Knowledge about language (KAL)
·         TKT : Young Learners (YL)

PRACTICAL MODULE
TKT : Practical (to be discontinued from December 2016) includes assessment of:
·         lesson planning
·         classroom management
·         teaching skills
